Ingredients

  • 300 ml unsweetened coconut water — chilled
  • 120 g firm tofu — drained and cubed
  • 80 g frozen banana — sliced
  • 6 g fresh ginger — peeled and thinly sliced
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice — freshly squeezed
  • 30 g unsweetened pea protein powder — plain
  • 100 g ice cubes — whole optional
  • 0.5 g fine sea salt — a small pinch optional

Instructions

  1. Add the chilled coconut water to a blender jug first so the blades can move easily.
  2. Add the cubed tofu, frozen banana slices, pea protein powder, fresh lime juice, and sliced ginger to the blender.
  3. Blend on low speed for 20–30 seconds, then increase to high speed and blend for another 30–45 seconds until completely smooth and no ginger strands remain.
  4. If you prefer a colder, thinner drink, add the ice cubes and blend again until the ice is crushed and the cooler has a milkshake-like consistency.
  5. Taste and, if tolerated, add a tiny pinch of fine sea salt to boost electrolytes, blending briefly to mix.
  6. Pour into two small glasses, letting the cooler sit for 1–2 minutes so any foam settles, which can make it gentler on a sensitive stomach.

Tips for GLP-1 users

If your nausea is intense, start with 4–5 small sips every few minutes rather than finishing a full glass at once, and consider straining the drink through a fine sieve to remove any remaining fibre for easier digestion.

Use very cold ingredients and keep odours low by covering the blender with a lid immediately after blending, which can make the drink more tolerable when smells trigger nausea.

If you struggle with the acidity of lime during reflux flares, reduce the lime juice by half and replace the rest with extra coconut water.
