How to use Food Signals

Welcome. This page walks you through Food Signals from the very beginning — creating your account, setting it up, and using it day to day.

There's nothing to download. Food Signals runs in the web browser you already have on your phone. If you can open a website, you can use it.

Take it at your own pace. You can't break anything, and nothing you enter is set in stone.

Start here

New to Food Signals? Start with setting up. It takes about ten minutes, once.

The two-minute version

If you'd rather just begin, this is everything that matters:

  1. Open portal.food-signals.com in your phone's browser.
  2. Tap Sign up, enter your first name, email and a password, then check your inbox and tap the link we send you.
  3. Answer the setup questions. There are eight short screens. Skip any that don't suit you.
  4. On the Today screen, tap the green Meal button at the bottom and log one thing you ate.
  5. Tap Feeling, next to it, and note how you're doing.

That's it. That's the whole habit. Do that for a few days and the app starts showing you how your meals and your symptoms tend to line up.

One small entry is a good day. There's no perfect diet here, no streak to protect, and nothing to catch up on if you miss a day.

A tip worth thirty seconds

Add Food Signals to your home screen and it opens like any other app — one tap, no typing the address, and more room on screen because the browser's own bars disappear.

The app will offer this to you itself: a green banner near the top saying "More space, no Safari bars." Follow that, or do it yourself:

If you dismiss the banner with the , nothing is lost — the steps above still work.

What if I get stuck?

Nothing you do in Food Signals is permanent. Every entry can be edited or deleted, every setting can be changed later, and every setup question can be answered again.

If something isn't working or doesn't make sense, tap Feedback in the menu at the top of any screen, or email [email protected]. A real person reads it — during the closed trial, that person is often Ruby herself.
