Creamy Matcha Tofu Brown Rice Power Smoothie
This gentle matcha smoothie uses silken tofu, brown rice, and protein powder to pack a lot of protein and calories into a small, easy-to-sip portion—ideal when GLP-1 medications blunt your appetite. Its mild flavor, low odor, and smooth texture help you meet nutrition needs without feeling overwhelmed by a large meal.
Ingredients
- 80 g cooked brown rice — cooled
- 150 g silken tofu — drained
- 30 g unflavoured or mild vanilla whey or plant protein powder — scoop
- 80 g banana — sliced, frozen if possible
- 260 ml unsweetened soy milk — chilled
- 2 g matcha powder — sifted
- 10 g maple syrup — liquid optional
- 80 g ice cubes — whole optional
Instructions
- Add the chilled soy milk to a blender jug first to help the blades catch the ingredients easily.
- Add the silken tofu, cooked and cooled brown rice, banana, protein powder, and matcha powder to the blender.
- Blend on low, then increase to high for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and creamy; the rice should be fully broken down.
- Taste and, if needed, add maple syrup for a slight sweetness, then blend again briefly.
- If you prefer a colder or slightly thicker smoothie, add the ice cubes and blend until just crushed and incorporated.
- Pour into two small glasses and sip slowly, stopping when comfortably satisfied; you can refrigerate any remaining portion for later.
Tips for GLP-1 users
If your appetite is very low, pour the smoothie into a small cup and sip it over 20–30 minutes; this slow intake is often easier on the stomach while still delivering concentrated protein and calories.
Cook extra brown rice in advance and keep portions in the fridge or freezer so you can blend this smoothie quickly on days when you feel too tired to cook.
